You have a pretty neat little game engine here, but there are a few points which I think need some work.

The controls felt excellent... nice and tight. This made jumping and shooting feel very natural.

The main character has very nice walking animation.

I had one issue with enemy pathing... I don't like how the green enemies can "airwalk" if you shoot the red brick out from under them. I wasn't a big fan of the "superslide" that happens when you shoot them, but that is just personal preference.

A simple fix is need for the transitions from screen to screen. Right now a clone is visible if you jump across the screen. I found this unnerving as I kept thinking there was an enemy appearing below me.

I wasn't a fan of the music selection, but the big issue I had was that it was too loud compared to the game sounds.

Looks good and I hope you do more with the project.

This is hands down my favorite flash game of the year thus far.

It had minimalist, but very adequate graphics.
It had a solid and comforting Metroid-style gameplay and level design. (I didn't get lost.)
It had the right amount of difficulty to make it enjoyable.
The controls felt as though the character had a little too much momentum for my liking. (made it a little sluggish on jumping)
Finally, the music vs sound effect levels were a little off I thought (there may have been a way to change it, but I didn't look because it wasn't that bothersome... only noticed it on the bosses that were kickin my butt... lol)

A very enjoyable way to spend an hour.
Thank you.

I got a weird glitch...

the game just scrolled through the different rooms and ended... I was awarded 4 awards (Secret Room, DIE, Master Theif, and ESCAPE!) then the loop started over again.

I'll reboot then try again.

Interesting Game

I had fun wasting a few minutes with this... got a little bored at level 10 or so.

The graphics and sound was adequate. More spectaular 'death' effects would be a nice touch though.

The controls were amazing... i loved the concept of gathering momentum and using it to crush my opponents. Very fun.

I noticed a small physics problem... if you ram someone from behind and they are moving forward, the energy you give them slows them down (and actually makes them come towards you if you hit hard enough) instead of speeding them up. Probably want to fix this.

I would really like to see a little story, like 'Death Car Champion Ship', with a ladder of matches or something. A boss would be cool to. A method of upgrading my buggy would also be nice... more armour, bigger engine, spikes, that sort of thing.

Definitely was worth my time and worth investing a little time into improving.

Quite Entertaining

I found this to be quite entertaining.

It had good controls and decent driving physics.

There were two things that bothered me... the difference in each level of car was too great. Even with a perfect line a '1000' car can't compete with a '2000' car. Since when you win the first track you only get '1000', if you do it on your first try and go to the new track your stuck with 5 dollar awards and the points you can get from hitting animals. Didn't like the fact that you needed to run a race you've already ran to get money to compete in the next level.

I also didn't like the fact that your car isn't marked. In a pack of three red cars, your red car doesn't stick out very much.

Definitely fun to play.

Started strong, but finished weak...

The animation and story of the game is interesting.
So is the daemon helper concept.
I liked the minigames... they were well made.

The minigames being well made is what really confused me because the final boss fight looks horrifically rushed and is poorly laid out.

The regions where you click to move are very small and easy to miss since you need to move your mouse back and forth across the screen. The enemy's attack is completely unavoidable in some circumstances (full sweeps left to right or right to left)... also placing the rock pile you retrieve BESIDE the 'click' region to get there is tres annoying.

I would like to have keyboard control over my movement in the final fight (actually I would like it everywhere :P)

I would also like to see the boss have more varied attacks and I would like to place where my rocks go.

Oh, and the boss picture is WAY too cute for the final evil villian in my opinion. :P

Still I was pleasently surprised by this... with a little tuning it should be a real winner.

Fair points and well put to be honest :)

I'm really glad you liked the game as a whole, truthfully it was quite hard work finding the right minigames to fit each section. We are spending alot longer planning Part II so hopefully when we release that it will feel more consistent throughout (we have some ideas that I am VERY excited about for the sequel.)

Very entertaining and atmospheric...

I found this game to be quite entertaining. The weapons were all useful in their own right (well the pistol kinda sucked) but you were always given two different weapons so it wasn't a problem.

The visuals were cool and the story came out wonderfully.

I may have added subtitles for the doctor and nurse as when you a firing away with the rifle or bazooka they are hard to hear.

I very much enjoyed this.

Very fun, but I encountered a bug.

While in the mines levels by the first spikey region I battered like 5 enemies into the spikes. When I was finished my barbian onslaught.. I couldn't 'stop' attacking. Not sure what caused it.. when I pressed the space bar again it would switch between normal attacks to power attacks. But still constantly attacking. Pressing other buttons, switching windows and switching back etc didn't fix anything. I had to reload the game.

Still awesome barbarian fun though.

Fun if you get past the beginning

The game is fun, but not until 50 or so have gone by... if it wasn't for your comment that it is slow at the beginning I would have quit at 20.

It would be good if there were some way to skip ahead to the fun point without needing to go through the dreary beginning again.

Also music was good, sound effects not so much.

Hi Pawn007,

thank you for your review.
I've raised the initial spawn-speed to make the game a bit more challenging.

Greg

... you've confused me...

The game itself was okay... the graphics were good (all the people where basically the same)... target descirptions were fairly detailed, but still left you guessing at the target... (that one stopped by the window, I'll shoot him in the face is a very poor selection method).

The Ai was dumb in a few obvious ways... "I'll just step over my dead commrade and continue with my day, do di do" and certain loads of a levels were impossible to complete (a target has cover for their entire journey)

The targeting different areas of the head was interesting, but a headshot needs to actually hit square and something vital for maximum effect.... the jaw, the eye, clipping the edge isn't likely a killshot.

What I found most frustrating was that for most of the game you kill 'criminals' who have no real impact on society in order to fix society... aside from the serial killer, the clut leader, the human trafficer, and the meth story, None of the others had anything to do with harming society.

Now you claim that this is not twisted in a feminist way. On your website you stated that it was because you were too lazy to animate women. But seriously every target is accused of abusing women, every single one. You don't just have to be a crooked cop selling meth to kids, your also a rapist crooked cop selling meth to kids.

"There's more to being a vigilante than killing wife beaters." who are you kiddn.

If you wanted a more, "we're fixing society" feel you should make targets things that actually harm society, not just small groups of people. Drug dealers, gangs, organized crime, political corruption this is was I was expecting. Bob who got drunk, slept with a hooker, then went home and slapped his wife is what I got.

Oh and the 'boss'... if I can shot the suitcase after I killed him, why can I not shoot the suitcase before I kill him??

Game 8/10
Story 2/10 (unbelievable, lead I couldn't identify with (seriously falling apart because of one news story that contridicts the likely thorourgh research in target selection and you fall apart??))

(This has great potential, I recommend flipping through some Punisher comics for some story ideas.)

"because you were too lazy to animate women". - If you knew how much work was involved with animating these models, you wouldn't say that!
